Teachers & Students Annotate with Kami!

Updated: Oct 23, 2020

Our district has secured a Kami subscription for students and teachers. Kami is a Chrome extension that allows students to annotate text and edit documents. Students can annotate on ebooks, publisher-supplied PDFs, worksheets and more. Kami tools boost students’ creativity by allowing them to draw freely and annotate with a selection of colors, shapes and text sizes. Students can easily complete tasks and save files with Kami’s Google Classroom integration. Students can easily complete tasks and save files with Kami’s Google Classroom integration. Teachers can markup, discuss and provide feedback using Kami’s text, audio, and video annotation tools. These collaborative tools encourage active, real-time participation in the classroom.

Some of you are already using Kami. If that is the case your subscription rolled over as long as you sign in with your wvusd.org account. If you haven’t started using Kami yet, in order to gain access go to the chrome web store https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/extensions and search for Kami. Download it to your computer and create an account by signing in through Google with your WVUSD.org email address.

Here is a video walk-through on how to use Kami https://youtu.be/uqnWcqiOPho.

You can add Kami as an assignment in Google Classroom. View the Google Slide to learn how. You can now choose to attach a link to "Open with Kami" (Beta testing). Students can use this link to open the Kami assignment. It can even work if the extension is not installed.
